Associating Gravity Spy Glitches to GstLAL Triggers

In this project we seek to understand the behavior and response of GstLAL — one of the LIGO search pipelines — to transient noise in the detector, commonly referred to as glitches. We developed a global likelihood parameter to distinguish between background noise and GstLAL triggers caused by glitches. After selecting only triggers caused by glitches, we investigate various parameters and parameter spaces to determine how GstLAL reacts to various glitch types.

Signal-to-noise-ratio (SNR) contributions for triggers both inside and outside the duration of Gravity Spy glithches. We clearly see a large contribution from triggers within various glitch durations, motivating our goal of understanding the response of GstLAL to noise transients.
